OUR MISSION:
Twenty years ago God led a group of men to the Island of Jamaica. The team members hearts were broken for missions. Since 1996 Independent Baptist Mission has worked in Jamaica and in the Dominican Republic striving to see the Word of the God proclaimed and people come to know the Jesus as their Savior. We have seen many souls saved and experienced many victories for our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our project is called the "Nehemiah Project." Just as Nehemiah was called of the Lord to a particular task so are we. We have a burden and a vision for these people. This is all accomplished with God working through people just like you. Some give, some go, some pray but all are an important part of this ministry.
In our pursuit of helping the Jamaican people our mission has a goal of building and repairing houses, and working on buildings and upgrading churches to meet the growing needs of the community and feeding the hungry, (Manna for the Multitudes food program).
Not only do we have work projects to meet the need of the communities, but we seek to reach out through our local nursing homes, and orphanage ministries. One of the facilities we built is now an orphanage and a school. We are truly a New Testament Ministry. We are church planters that continue to support and check on each Pastor and congregation to help strengthen each churches individual ministry.
Our ministry is an all faith ministry. We operate totally by faith as the Lord burdens the hearts of those who give to this ministry. We are not endowed or funded by any organization. We do not have a paid staff, every member raises their own support. Our board is made up of Bible Believing Christians from different churches.
OUR PURPOSE:
Our ministry is threefold Evangelism, Education and Encouragement. We strive to accomplish this goal by planting churches, building up of the local community of believers and training and raising up young men equipping them for active ministry.
Evangelism: We believe that evangelism comes through the personal sharing of Jesus Christ. We strive to be a hands on organization establishing healthy, local churches that sends its own people out to reach others.
Education: Education comes through the local church reaching out to the community with bible schools, children’s programs and our Bible College program. In 2013 we established the Bethel Bible Institute.
Encouragement: Encouragement is one of the most important parts of our ministry. We serve a very needy and poor people who are not only spiritually starved but also physically starved. We strive to be the example of Jesus Christ what He has given us to make a difference in the lives of Jamaican people.
